True. That's intentional and temporary. We don't have any onboarding yet, and generated keys are meant for testing only. As soon as we figure out how to onboard people properly we'll allow backups etc.
Ah yes, 100% agree with you - I also expect different browser instances/sessions with different keys. This is currently very non-trivial to implement, but it's on the roadmap.
The delete folder button noted, will add asap.
Thank you!
Thank you for trying Spring!
there is no multiple profiles for multiple keys
Can you please elaborate? You can add more keys/profiles by clicking the "+" button on your Profile screen.
NostrNet.work is a great tool and an alternative to Spring on desktop, but some features like custom context menus just can't be implemented there.
Thanks!
Can you please give me more input on your question? Say you have Amethyst installed, you want it to be offered at the top of app suggestions?
Speed is definitely a big advantage of native apps. However, I wonder how much gain we could get if we implemented various nostr-specific APIs and optimizations at the browser level - like a native nostr-tools/ndk implementation that speeds up event processing, or a browser-wide event cache, etc.
You can have it there - someone should just publish Stacker.news on nostr, i.e. with nostrapp.link. Or just paste https://stacker.news into the search bar of Spring and then pin the opened tab. Login with Nostr does work, although some weird error screen popped up for me.
Thanks! Yeah I think this blend of several concepts gives us a new useful UX. So much work ahead though
What do you use Nostr for today?
To learn new about Nostr and Bitcoin.
Are you using Nostr more or less often than you were earlier this year?
I used it quite a lot (reading/researching mostly), now a bit more writing than before.
Do you use Nostr for applications beyond short-form text notes?
Didn't use that much, now exploring new ones.
What new applications do you want to see built on Nostr?
All of them eventually. Right now - curated video feeds for kids, topical curated feeds/relays, new app discovery services, developer community tools.
What are the emerging Nostr apps that more people should know about?
nostrocket.org, highlighter.com
What needs to be improved for Nostr to continue attracting new users?
Onboarding, topical feeds, topical discovery. I don't think there is 10x product yet.
This is a great new nostr app! Did you consider using some single-letter tags to improve search-ability? I'd like to search by ingredients at least, and maybe vegan etc (those could be 't' tags).
I think it is most likely under any technical design for nostr to end up at 3.
It seems that no matter which built-in economic incentives we create for many players to run relays, there will always be capital-rich player that is willing to provide everything for free until competition dies. That's how Amazon and others keep winning.
Given that, what's left is that the core design allows me to have all my data saved, backed up, moved etc. That means I can use whatever big (free) player there is, until it starts misbehaving. Then I can switch.
Might that be enough to make nostr different?
Works for me! How can I change the relay it's using? I don't see metadata of the people I'm talking to
Thanks @dk for good advice, I really enjoyed this chat!
