You can self-host it, although it's a bit limited now. You'd need any http server and just let it serve the files we provide. https://blog.npub.pro/post/how-to-self-host-on-github/
Wow that's cool! Are you still using it at school? Would you be interested in writing a long-form post about you experience? Thanks!
Looks like SN posted the markdown you've published here as kind:1 event, which isn't supposed to have markdown - just plain text. Some apps like Amethyst support it, some don't, and it's discouraged by many afaik. @k00b maybe consider publishing posts as long-form kind:30023 ?
Thanks for the shoutout, but I barely write a line of C++ per month now, the world revolves around fullstack js these days.
Just choose "Posts", not "Notes" - posts are long-form content. You can filter further with hashtags.
There are a lot of types of subs/notifications we could do:
- push notifications, these sites are PWAs and push notifications seem to make sense
- follow button to just add the creator to nostr contact list
- subscribe button that adds the site to some new "followed websites" list - need apps to start supporting those
- subscribe-by-email - you can already do that, just add js code of one the ConvertKit/mailchimp/etc services and collect emails of the visitors (will need a nostr-to-email bridge of some sort to deliver updates to subscribers)
- paid subscriptions - view posts previews as anon, pay and subscribe to view the full posts
All of this will come, eventually. Right now we'll be focusing on talking to the first users and prioritize from there.
You don't have to be kind:30023 creator kind:1 works well too!
We do have paid plans on the roadmap, and some abuse prevention measures, hope we can keep npub.pro subdomains free as much as possible. We'll see how it goes.
Please let me know if you get a chance to try it and have any feedback or issues or feature requests. Thanks!
Yes right now we only support kind 1 notes and kind 30023 long-form posts, but all other kinds are possible in theory, so we will get there eventually!
You should enter name@nsec.app as nip05 then it should work - just tried it.
