Hi! This is a little game I've been working on over the past few weekends.

It's heavily inspired by [lastpaywins.com](https://lastpaywins.com) by @alex_lewin.

It works similarly, except that you invite a friend to join your game—so you're not playing against strangers. Also, the timer is 24 hours instead of 300 seconds.

I think this game could be fun because winning sounds simple: you just need to remember to zap back within 24 hours. But the same goes for your friend. So, over time, the pool grows, and eventually—maybe after months??—someone will forget, and the winner gets the full pool!

I'm glad I can finally release the first version to get some feedback and see whether it's worth continuing to work on alongside SN in my spare time. It can get quite depressing to work on the same codebase day in, day out for [two years](https://stacker.news/items/179499).

I don't have high expectations for this game; I mostly just wanted to prove to myself that I can execute on an idea from start to finish completely on my own that others _might_ also find cool. Oh, and I wanted to try out a different tech stack instead of only working with Stacker News' tech stack. This game is built with [Echo](https://echo.labstack.com/)+[HTMX](https://htmx.org/)+[Templ](https://templ.guide/).

Today we are announcing a partnership with Obscura VPN, a newly launched two-party VPN service that uses our WireGuard VPN servers as its “exit hop”.

This partnership starts on 11th Feburary 2025, with apps for macOS being available from this date on Obscura VPNs website.

While connected through Obscura, your traffic first passes through Obscura’s servers before exiting to the Internet via Mullvad’s WireGuard servers. This two-party architecture ensures that neither Obscura nor Mullvad can see both your identity and your Internet traffic.

Obscura users can verify that their traffic is sent encrypted to a Mullvad server by comparing their server’s WireGuard public key (shown on the Obscura App’s “Location” page) against those published on our server page.

Obscura also features a custom obfuscation protocol based on QUIC that mimics HTTP/3 traffic to bypass firewalls and censorship.

# Zero fee playground

# What is it?
This project showcases a recent upgrade to bitcoin in version 28. Before v28, all nodes refused, by default, to relay transactions that paid zero fees, and miners refused to mine them. Also, nodes and miners rejected transactions that *did* pay a fee if it was below a "minimum fee" threshold. The "minimum fee" threshold varied on a node-by-node basis, but it was related to the average fee paid by the transactions in each node's copy of the mempool.

V28 changed the rules. A transaction can now pay zero fees (or a fee below the "minimum fee" threshold) if it is paired with a second transaction that pays *extra* fees. To follow the new rule, the second transaction has to pay enough fees that, when the two transactions are considered together, their "combined feerate" is above the old "minimum fee" threshold. There are also several other conditions they have to follow; for example, the two transactions have to have version number 3, and the "first" one can't spend an unconfirmed utxo. The full rules are outlined in [Bip 431](https://bips.xyz/431) and [Bip 331](https://bips.xyz/331).

The first of your two transactions will pay zero fees, but nodes will still relay it (and miners will still mine it) as long as it is paired with the second transaction.

I am a happy user of Obsidian (see my [other tutorial](https://stacker.news/items/195621)), I use it as a really powerful markdown editor with great shortcuts for my TODOs, notes, planning, etc. I don't use the second-brain stuff, visualizations and similar features. 

**But** the one thing I was always wishing for is that when I'm on my laptop browsing web, or doing something I would like to be able to just hit some shortcut and quickly add a note or a task in some default TODO list. 

Today I finally figured out how to do it. And it's fairly simple.

- Install 2 extensions

- First configure Quick Add
	- Open the Quick Add Settings, click on `Template` and change it to `Capture`, fill in some name next to it (e.g. "Global task") and click on `Add Choice`.
	- Now click on the Gear icon next to the newly created "Capture"
	- Now configure the details in Capture ([documentation](https://quickadd.obsidian.guide/docs/Choices/CaptureChoice)), for example to add a journal entry, see  [this example](https://quickadd.obsidian.guide/docs/Examples/Capture_AddJournalEntry).

- Second configure Global Hotkeys

# Setting up a hybrid lightning node, even behid CGNAT:

## 1. Motivation
To run a lightning node in a completely sovereign way, we must host it on hardware under our control. To make our node accessible to other peers we must publish on the gossip network how to find our node, but since many of our local networks are behind a **carrier grade NAT** and the router does not have a public IP, it becomes a bit difficult. In this post I will explain how to expose our node with a **ssh tunnel with a vps**, even behind CGNAT. I won't explain how to create a tor hidden service because I think is trivial, if you are running a node, almost sure that you have one.

## 2. Prerequisities: 
1- Running a lightning node
2- Having a vps with a public ip: 
  [lunanode](https://www.lunanode.com/?r=31080) is easy to use, and you can pay with lightning 

## 3. Exposing the node 
Connect to your VPS by ssh and edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config
``` 
sudo vim /etc/ssh/sshd_config
```
Ensure that: 
```
AllowTcpForwarding yes 
GatewayPorts clientspecified
```
Make sure that the port that you want to expose is accessible by the internet, in my case it will be the default port 9735, replace 9735 by your custom port if you want:
``` 
sudo ufw allow 9735
sudo ufw reload 
```
Now let's move to our local machine, where the node is running. With the assumption that your node is exposed in localhost:9735 (that's how it is by default) let's test our implementation, remember to change the ports if you have others, paste your vps public ip address and your vps user :
```
ssh -nNTv -R 0.0.0.0:9735:localhost:9735 **YOUR_VPS_IP_ADDRESS**
```
Now you must change the config of your node to advertise the new address. If you use CLN you can edit the config file and set announce-addr=**YOUR_VPS_IP_ADDRESS**:9735 (or your port). If you are using another lightning node implementation I am sure you can find the config file, and announce the address.
Now everything must work, you can try to find your node from another node (maybe a friend's node) by the new ip:port address and the pubkey of course. 

## 4. Finishing 
You can close that now, and prepare to make it more robust.
First we need to install autossh
``` 
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install autossh
```

Create system d service 
```
sudo vim /etc/system/systemd/autossh-lightning.service 
```

and there put the service description, remember to replace the needed fields with your own data.

If status is active we are all set.
