For whatever reason Men's health month is observed in June, and also November, I don't know specifically why it's in two different months but as a man, I have to assume it's because we are so amazing that it really takes more than one month to celebrate our awesomeness. Personally, I think we should take over March or April also, depending on what month the opening day of baseball falls on.
Anyhow, for my fellow men out there, its probably a good time to do yourself a favor and take some time evaluating your life. Make sure you are prioritizing self care, that means making sure you're getting enough sleep, eating healthy, and exercising. Remember that perfection is the enemy of better, so if you need to make a change in your life, start small. Positive results come from hundreds of small decisions overtime, so just try to make small changes.
Take some time to maintaining your friendships or reconnect to people you haven't spoken to in a while. Men can have tendencies to lack in social relationships and like anything else, they take work to maintain. Friendships and social connections are incredibly important, and life is short. Take care of those relationships, because none of us live for ever.
Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. I know it isn't considered exactly manly to seek help from a mental health professional, but personally, I don't find suffering to a particularly manly trait that I need to clutch onto. I will always choose my mental health and happiness over the opinions of assholes that consider me weak for taking care of myself. Let them be miserable all they want, don't let them drag you down with them.
If you're getting older and feeling low energy, moody, putting on extra lbs. and/or losing muscle, go get those testosterone levels checked. I think there's less stigma behind it now than there used to be, but there's absolutely nothing shameful about having low T. Get it taken care of, keep that bone density high, have more energy, be happier, feel better.
No shit Tony, that's why I take it, because it fucking works.
Take care of yourselves guys, because all the stacking in the world doesn't mean shit if you're dead. I want us all to live long and healthy lives so keep those time preferences low and get to work. It's amazing what you can do for your own health in less than a year's time.
