This is what happiness looks like

Ditched my usual uniform of shorts and slippers to doll myself up, even to the extent of wearing an accessory that was given to me pre-fatherhood. What’s the occasion? I hear you ask.

THIS IS THE FIRST NIGHT IN 2025 I’M GOING OUT TO RECLAIM MY SOCIAL LIFE. I’m not even being melodramatic. I told my Year Head earlier in February point-blank that “no, I can’t stay for the Y2 camp because I need to rush back to pick up my kids.” The opportunity costs of fatherhood are very real and painful for me.

And yes, I finally got the balls to apply for Leave for Absence from my wife because a friend had won free tickets to Nicholas Teo’s concert. I don’t even know any of his songs other than 《当你孤单你会想起谁》. BUT THAT IS NOT THE POINT! The point is, I get to strut down the streets at night, with a spring in my step and a goofy grin on my face.
