I don't pretend to understand BitVM. But now there is a v3, apparently. Perhaps @supertestnet to weigh in on it.

I keep an eye on solutions like this with a hope that it can provide
- solid private transactions by default (that are better than lightning)
- be easily self custodial by default (better than lightning)
- fees and price comparable to lightning
- speed comparable to lightning
- cheap conflict resolution (better than lightning)
- non interactive sending/static addresses (better than default lightning)
- ux of "get app and receive immediately"
- can onboard self custodially a billion people
- no need to be online for a long time
- easy recovery in another wallet/app

Stop giving time to this garbage, its all brain rot from the same mind-virus that keeps Ethereum around.
lol...
So, users must still believe that:
-
the modulus ceremony was honest
-
at least one watchdog will stay online (and uncompromised) forever
-
someone will host five terabytes of circuit data
-
an exit coordinator will stay solvent and responsive
These are the same categories of trust.. setup, liveness, data availability, and operator behavior that underpin Liquid, Ark, Spark, Statechains, or any other fake-L2. BitVM is just another rearrangement.
Why are people so dissatisfied with being able to send and receive digital hard money that they need to keep slinging this fake L2 shit at the wall in hopes something sticks?

Fair points. I'm pretty happy with lightning...although I sure would love an easy way to receive without being online and also easy on boarding for nocoiners.
I'm happy to see people slinging shit (or whatever) at the wall to see what sticks. Maybe we will eventually get something good out of all of it.

"When people want the impossible only liars can satisfy."
Time to accept that's not possible off-chain.
The internet doesn't work when offline. This justification for attention scams is a failure to appreciate Bitcoin for what it is, an always-online LEDGER.
Bitcoin cannot be replicated. Your choice is the chain, a custodian, or being online to receive. These are laws as immutable as gravity.
How would you get emails and such if no server was online to receive them?
Ease is relative, it's already easier than opening a bank account. There is a real limitation around affordability, but that too is as immutable as gravity, if you cannot afford to use Bitcoin you have to trust someone to use it for you.
"Hope is what we cling to when reality has left us nothing else."
"Hope, in reality, is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man."
Nietzsche was specifically talking about reading whitepapers for fake L2s and shitcoins and arguing over worthless shitfork proposals.
Time for Bitcoiners to grow up and appreciate Bitcoin for what it is and not take it for granted, lest it start to look like this:

Made me chuckle. I don't often chuckle aloud while reading. Great line! I accept your line of reasoning.

BitVM is just another fake L2 with the same trust problems as the rest. You still need setup, liveness, data availability and trust in operators. Calling it “BitVM” doesn’t make it Bitcoin. If it needs exit coordinators and 5TB off-chain, it’s not real. Bitcoin doesn’t need this.

What is this, an llm summary of shocknet’s comment?

Sorry if that sounded like a copy paste or anything :( I’m just new here and trying to learn. I hope I’m not bothering anyone!

If you're using an llm to pretend you understand things that you don't, to express opinions that you don't hold, you're debasing everyone's contribution here who is participating earnestly.
Most of your posts and comments here have an LLM smell. If you're naive as you claim, stop using the llm to make up opinions for you, to think for you.

I’m really sorry if I came off the wrong way. English isn’t my first language, and sometimes I copy phrasing that sounds clearer than what I could come up with myself. I’m not trying to pretend I know more than I do or mislead anyone😔 I’m just trying to learn and be part of the discussion. I’ll be more careful about how I phrase things. Really didn’t mean any harm.

All good. Maybe try to force the LLM to do a literal translation of what you mean to say.
In any case, it's better to ask questions if you don't understand something, rather than kind of parrot stuff. Most of us appreciate a great question.
