I play on a modern recreation of a game boy color - ModRetro made a handheld that plays the old cartridges (and new ones), but the device has a scratch resistant screen, metal body, modern screen brightness. It’s on the pricey side but I like cartridges.
Nice! I guess new cartridges are made by hobbyists? I still have my collection of SNES cartridges that I play on my old SNES from time to time. But I spend most of my gaming time on the PC and also the Switch 2 nowadays.

Some of the new carts are from independent hobbyists. Quite a few are from small retro gaming studios.
For whatever reason I prefer the small, dedicated device and the scarcity of cartridges. I’m also the kind of person that prefers physical books.

Speaking of books, my family is all about physical books. We have probably 2000 or more books in our home. I keep buying and building bookshelves, and the bookshelves keep getting filled up, it's quite amazing.
