Stacker.news, of course.
AljazeeraYandex.com (Russian equivalent of Google) is good for general searching, free of Google-style censorship, though I'm sure it has a different type of censorship.
I have settled with X long ago. It's the feedback effect of youtube comments on steroids. I also like that the google feed on my phone is an excellent RSS of news for some reason, I'm unsure if that's default behavior but it's great. SN is great for news on bitcoin and more specifically on nostr.
Although it's hard to know what exactly is happening between Iran and Israel I've found my usual western media to be quite biased. Looking at the news from Aljazeera you see quite a different view.
Also YouTube has a lot of alternative views. It's just that it's filled with a lot of crap that needs to be curated. Often if it filters through here or to nostr I might take a look.
To be fair, I see little news in the strict sense of the word here at Stacker News. I see a lot of links from external publications here, really and I interact little more if you don't even have a TLDR in them.
I haven't consumed news of big portals for many years, and the smallest seem more conspiracy than journalists, at least those we expect journalists to do. So sometimes I get news from third parties, I go after sources and take the average, if the news seems very important to me. Otherwise, there will always be a red manipulation.
I pay $5 a month for Kagi as my search engine because I can prioritize and block certain sources from search results.
I just search as I normally would but I have blocked all MSM outlets and prioritize sources that I find to have valuable yet intelligently critical content. Stacker News is one pinned site that is always at the top of my results if my search is relevant.
I am slowly curating my own echo chamber of truth and higher quality media. It’s amazing. I wish I had it during Covid.
