It makes it even harder considering, we finally got a "uncontrolled" president in who promised to put american interest first and ending forever wars....and now here we are....
For sure. I was never a Trump supporter, but I was glad he won and I did have different expectations for him. Welp, more fool me.

I think we forget that W Bush ran on the US NOT being the worlds police man. Same populous idea Trump ran on. Then 9/11 happened and it all went out the window.
Most people have few political convictions and the ones they do have are all over the place logically. Many just pipe out what they hear. It's not new. It's just old.
It wouldnt be so bad if the other side was actually any better. They aren't.

It's amazing that Americans were already sick of being the world police before 9/11. Compared to now, the US military was completely non-interventionist back then.

I agree we should not be the global policemen
We also should not be the global cash transmitter (I'm talking about Obama and his obseession with sending billions in cash to Islamic fundamentalists)

And do you think its a bad idea that the CIA funded Bin Laden as well? Or any number of other groups in efforts to manipulate governments and determine the fates of people in the Middle-east and South America?
Others have pointed this out but I believe the money you are referring to was sanction money being returned to them. But even if it is exactly as you are framing it, Obama is far from the first to send money to people that want to kill Americans. The people that do it always have "reasons" but no one ever seems to want to admit it causes unintended consequences and blow back.
I'm no Obama fan but multiple presidents have done these things and the CIA has a long track record of it. I guess I don't get what your point is? The current regime in Iran would not even be in power without the US meddling in that country.
Honestly its hard for me to blame one party. I don't think that even matters. It seems like a uni-party to me when it comes to international relations. Trump seemed different but less so each day.
The TLDR is "all wars are banker's wars".

Yes it was a good idea to fund Afghanistan during the Cold War
It was a terrible idea for Obama to send cash to Iran while sanctions were still in effect in 2016 or earlier in his term.
My point about Obama is that he is anti USA and pro Iran. Valerie Jarrett was born in Iran.
