This afternoon was interesting. I got to attend a workshop at WeWork Singapore. I was greeted by this rather grotesque dragon that looked like a horse.

I was intrigued by the various working modes, ranging from solitary booths to long workbenches to circular mahogany tables:

This made me think of my own workstation at school. As you might guess, I love it because it’s a spacious corner seat. Perfect for doing deep work without fellow colleagues dropping by for a frivolous chat.

What is your preferred workplace environment like?

I work from my kitchen table. I am fine with it. It has a nice view of the trees outside but if we move to a bigger place I would like to create a small office for myself/den to watch sports.

reply

Do you homeschool your kids at the same kitchen table?

reply

Sometimes my daughter but the kids both have desks in their respective rooms to work at.

reply

Cool. Say hi to them for me!

Separate room, no light from outside, standing desk, two monitors. And a nice long chair.

reply

Standing desk is good. Gives the body a mini workout. I need to incorporate that into my routine

This makes a great addition to the setup.

Did you just use AI to generate this image for me? So honoured

reply

My current workspace is the counter in our kitchen. It is not ideal.

reply

I’m sure your kids fight to get your attention

reply

If you go to coffee it will be ideal working space for remote work because there is no much noise like in home.

reply

True

Except that I’m a teacher. I’m in a front-facing role all the time haha

Is that your workstation? Looks soothing!

I was working from outside during covid and that was pretty nice until it got hot. Now I have my own office for the first time and that is pretty nice too I decorated it with over 20 plants so its like in in a jungle

reply

Do you take a mental break by tending to your plants every now and then?

reply

Two desktops

For gaming, right?

reply

No. One is for dev and another is for 3d modelling

The inside of a volcano on an island somewhere in the middle of an ocean. Nothing too fancy, just a nice cozy lair for me and my minions to get up to nefarious deeds.

reply

Beware if it is an active volcano

Low-fi chillhop girl all the way, except I only work in daylight and the window has a view of lush green things
