SN has a lot of territories. When you write a post you have to choose the territory in which you want to post, so anyone who post necessarily uses it.
But you can also use the Territory dropdown when reading SN. eg: to read only posts from a selected territory.
I'm curious how often stackers read SN this way, or if there are other reasons for using the dropdown.
It case you don't know what I'm referring to,
it's this thing right here 👇️👇️👇️

Never
Normally I use the recent posts, however there are a few territories that I like to read everything (and ensure I catch everything), such as ~Politics_And_Law, and I use the drop down to drill down to those.
I like to hit the "Recent" option...
And just read what I like and give Sats to others!!
Or sometimes I even contribute Cowboy credits!!
Recent is the best!
Occasionally, to find new posts on territories that receives little to none sats.
Drop-down and I don't use the "HOT" front page at all. I will go as far as to say "Almost Always", but my vote was "Frequently"
interesting! so you cycle through territories you enjoy reading? seems like it could be a cool way of reading SN.
Yeah - there's not many. Music, events, AGORA - those are my top. Sometimes I look at others, but very rarely.
Basically never for browsing, but sometimes I’ll use it when I’m looking for something.
Aha! I knew I should have included "For searching" as an option.
When I was posting NBA posts in ~Stacker_Sports, I’d switch to the territory via the switcher to see the recent posts to make sure there wasn’t already a post
This is a real use-case for it.
Rarely, if ever. I use the drop down from the post screen, I don't go to the territory first.
The subjects are near to themselves there is no need to make territories. Even if faulty choosen territory it will be moved to correct one.
Whenever I'm confused between two or more territories about posting some stuff.
i subscribe to territories i like most via rss feeds
I rarely use it in the main screen
I usually just hit up the recent, hot, or top filters. But if I haven't checked SN in ages, I'll sometimes just go straight to the specific territory I wanna see. I also use it for searching sometimes.
This is my hypothesis: it's a search function.
Answering my own question: I almost never click it. When I do it's for searching a territory's feed for something specific I couldn't find otherwise.
