The Sussex Spaniel is a medium-sized dog originally bred for hunting. Its ancestors include other spaniel breeds and the Welsh Springer Spaniel. In those days, spaniel dogs were bred specifically for hunting purposes, helping people find and bring in various types of game, such as birds.
