Hello Stacker News family 👋,
I’m writing from Malawi, a country where Bitcoin is still very new to many people. I’m a student, and to support myself, I recently started a small rice business. At the same time, I’ve been diving deep into learning about Bitcoin, Lightning, and tools like hardware wallets — not just to secure my sats, but also to one day help others in my community do the same.
Today, I saw the BitBox AMA here on SN, and it inspired me to write this post. I’m very interested in the new BitBox02 Nova, especially now that it works with iPhones and iPads — most people here use mobile phones, so that's a big deal.
I wanted to ask the BitBox team (and the SN community):
-
Are there any ways BitBox plans to make their wallets more accessible in places like Africa — where trust in banks is low, but access to open tools is still limited?
-
Could community educators like me use BitBox tools to teach others, and maybe even collaborate on tutorials in local languages?
-
What advice would you give to someone starting out with very little, trying to learn Bitcoin, earn a few sats, and grow slowly but honestly?
I don’t know much yet, but I believe Bitcoin is hope for places like Malawi. I’m sharing what I learn bit by bit — through apps like Fountain, Nostr, and Stacker News.
Thanks to BitBox and everyone who builds tools that help people like me get closer to financial freedom — one sat at a time ⚡
If you're reading this and you're also from Africa, just starting your Bitcoin journey, or want to collaborate — let’s connect! 🌍
