This dog looks like he needs some shut-eye!

English Toy Spaniels were popular members of the British royal court, especially during the reign of King Charles II, who loved them so much that the breed was named after him.

Not my cup of tea.

I don't know why I'm still not convinced by small dogs, I've always liked big dogs, I love German shepherds.

Surely it's beautiful toy! Never had a small dog ever before, nor intend. Tere was a time when people went crazy for small dogs like pugs, spitzes, chihuahua, etc. in my town. But now I don't see that craze. I've recently started going for a walk in the morning and there were hardly any smaller breeds, others were also in a very less number. The human-dog bond seems to me broken here, can't figure out why?

I don't notice this where I live. I think French Bulldogs might be the most popular dog breed in the U. S. Pugs and Shih tzus are everywhere. I prefer big dogs too.

Lab is still number one in Canada.

Yeah I've listened Americans and Europeans love dogs and cats, even Chinese do. But here I guess it's changed in recent times, maybe because there's not much retired population atm.
Actually we live near a canal and there have always been a pavement in both sides of it for about 3 kms, as a kid when I used to go down for a walk there, I remember there used to be 100s of dogs, if not thousands. But now I hardly see only a few.

I've never liked small breeds. They don't seem like dogs like large breeds, and in some cases they're very artificial. The pug, for example, is a completely wrong dog. It doesn't breathe properly, its skull is very small, and it has had several health problems throughout its life.
It may sound like eugenics, but I think it's wrong to perpetuate an artificially selected breed of dog because people think it's cute. There are so many small, chubby dog breeds like the pug that are more "natural."
