I think its just last decade or 15 years that people have started wearing clothes which have brand names and logos. and i think most of the people just do it unconsciously, off late i am finding it weird as it is promoting others for free!! I think this has been normalized because we see all the celebs wearing it which obviously is because they are paid for promoting the brands! wondering what this shows about human nature??
Brands make you feel part of something. We as humans are drawn to things we think will attract other humans. Our basic instincts have been used to get us to buy, sell and obey since they wrote some peoples favorite fairy tale. “The Bible”. Once they figured out that worked marketing was born.

I think people have always been wearing their brands and logos. I remember at school if you didn't have Nike or Reebok shoes other kids would tease you.
Then there were people who wore alternative brands to show their alternative personality. Remember DR Martin shoes?

Brands become status symbols, especially when they are expensive. I have noticed it my entire life. In the 1970s or 80s people used to wear "Members Only" jackets. Really asinine. I also recall Izod shirts with the trademark alligator patch. The marketers sell overpriced clothing that includes free advertising.

Branding has been around for 100 of years. This isn’t a new thing. We have billions of people on earth for the first time in history so maybe you are just seeing it more because more people are around that need clothes. Which leads to you seeing more brands.
