Pay for input, and/or pay for outputPay for input, and/or pay for output
While @Car shares that per Cloudflare's Content Independence Day Monetizing AI we should all adopt paywalls on our posts and @Scoresby shared that To survive the AI age, the web needs a new business model, stackers developed a theory of their own, also lead by @Scoresby with Pay to post fixes AI slop. This will please @unschooled, per cleaning up the ai slop, as such noise reduction will allow for a stronger signal of spectacular writing and novel ideas. Those made by humans, not Elon Musk’s AI girlfriend, shared by @0xbitcoiner. Also, @Scoresby informed us that YouTube posts policy update to deal with AI slop - and comments are all slop, but since you don't have to pay for YouTube comments, this outcome is logical.
Are we doomed?Are we doomed?
@stack_harder asked How might super AI extinct us? and most stackers seem to turn this in a Matrix-like scenario where all humans get pacified by Skynet - with sex robots nonetheless (!) - except none of these stackers seem to remember that this was the initial design of the Matrix, but it failed due to human rejection. But, @chovyfu shares that we're speeding toward Skynet, so we will find out soon! Also don't forget that you're doomed without skynet too, because If There’s an SOP You’re SOL, shared by both @optimism and @cointastical.

Stackers using AI?Stackers using AI?
@gmd asked How do you use AI ? but alarmingly little stackers responded to this. This is probably another instance of penalization for disobeying that one shall only ask SN questions in @Aardvark's territory, not because stackers are shy.
On the off-chance that you're not using AI, perhaps reading @Rothbardian_fanatic's share What the Modern Luddites Miss: Technology Makes Us Wealthier may help you putting it into perspective. If that doesn't convince you, play @Scoresby's Turing test with social deception game to at least have a fun time while we all await what Skynet decides that our future will turn into.
Last but not least, no matter if you're a doomer, riding the AI waves like a pro or just haven't made up your mind yet, perhaps it's an idea to learn How to Stop Google’s Gemini AI from Accessing Your Apps, thanks @0xbitcoiner!

Dude how do you do this?!? Haha
(1) I browse every territory and as I go I put all item ids, authors, titles, sats, territory in an excel sheet.
(2) There I add a category (sometimes I have to re-read it) and mark duplicates.
(3) Then I transform all the data into markdown links with a formula.
(4) Then I take the top zapped posts and read them again
(5) Then I narrate the ones that fit together into a story, or 3 stories like today.
(and per yesterday's share, now that I've revealed the SOP, imma be SOL, lol)
seems like a good use case for AI ;)
For any other topic, it could be. For AI, removing the irony would be a loss, and less fun.
This is PoW! Seriously, you're the most committed out here running your territory. Great job!
Really just doing this for fun.
Very reassuring that somebody keeps meticulous account of where I fucked up with accidentally reposting. Really reassuring that now I can feel ashamed with the knowledge that somebody will notice.
lol.
PS: you didn't?
I thought the bullet point with 2 names means @carter beat me to it. Maybe I'm just confused.
No it means you beat him to it - your post and credit is first (but i accidentally linked your post to his name, so I did fuck up there)
Either way there's no shame in paying to share information with your fellow stackers that someone before you already paid to share with them. It just means you wanted to do the greatest thing mankind ever invented so much that you were willing to depart with the most valuable asset mankind ever invented. So you deserve credit for that.
The only people I don't credit are those that fish for sats with (AI) slop.
Absolutely fantastic
Thanks for the mention, I hope to post some of the more interesting posts in the future.
Of course! That was a nice post, actually important to think about.
I think that the Luddites are a fear based program to make the people fear anything new. Of course, you can understand the survival potential of fearing the new thing, whatever it may be, in the evolutionary scheme of things. New things often kill, don’t they? So, by appealing to the fear of the new, they can try to make static their surroundings, especially if it accrues to their interest. It is the same in politics, fear is a good driver, isn’t it?
Yes, I think new & improved is the thing that's scary, especially in the current case, where you have guys like Elon and Sam Altman telling you that you, at something very close to your core - your thoughts and cognition - are what's being improved by some new robot thing.
What's funny is that Elon seems to go back and forth, as @cointastical shared an interesting tweet in a comment yesterday:
Which is rich, and perhaps also worrying, coming from the guy that just released an LLM last week and also just raised another 50B shitcoins for the next one...
But, you're right, the appeal to fear is awful. To counter it, I:
I think that the best cure for the fear is The Litany Against Fear from the Dune novels. Once you realize the fear is only within you, can you cure it.
Anyway, maybe Musk is just a front for some nefarious organization to get these things out in the public. He seems to be something of a clown.
That's where I'm at, though honestly, when I had the thought of "fear", it took about 20s for arrogance to kick in and declare "Hell, no!" and "Over my dead body" to the AI guys that suck VC that suck rich people for money.
Fuck these guys.
I have to agree about what is happening. There will never be an AI that can think for itself, other than to statistically line up words one after another in pleasing arrangements. The lawyers have found out how well AI works for them in legal briefings and how much trouble they can cause.
I hope to see so many more lawyers get rekt on this. An example needs to be set and this feels like the correct avenue. Sorry lawyers but you've gotta take one for the team now.
Nice update--it looks like you included some content from other territories which is really cool.
lots catch up on!
Thanks! And yup! Every Monday I browse every territory, hunting for AI posts (and zapping unrelated interesting stuff I hadn't seen yet). Today I did it from a plane, lol.
even better--safe travels!
Just wanted to say thanks for reviving this territory!
Very nicely put up!
Thanks for the mention and wishing you a grand success for the territory.
While ~AI was archived, I thought of taking over but now I think I did the right thing going against my wish because a territory should be in the hands of someone who understands the subject deeply.
I'm not able to claim that I "understand deeply" but I'm reading and try to understand every paper / research article posted on the territory so I hope to one day be able to, but not do it anyway. Now that @carter is on vacay I've not had a super hard week though.
