I was just wondering, those of you here on SN that are interested in art – either as an artist or simply someone who enjoys viewing art – what is your appetite like for actually buying art?
Do you ever buy art?
Have you bought art in the past?
If you crossed paths with some art that you really liked, would you think seriously about buying it (price-dependent of course), or does art not seem worthy of your sats no matter how much you like it?
If you have a few moments to share any insight, ourselves and the other artists that are active here would no doubt find it useful.
Thank you! -Tom

It depends on what you call art, but I buy art. I can't afford to buy expensive pieces, yet I enjoy pretty things.
As for fine art, we have a large acrylic painting from a friend. Most of our other pieces are probably more appropriately called folk art - local artists making relatively quirky things. There are things like our bedside lamps, one of which has a doll head incorporated in it. Or, our fermentation crocks, which are all from hobby potters. Or, my wallet, which is from a local leather goods maker. Or, the bitcoin posters I've been collecting but haven't put up yet.
All else equal, I prefer used, one-off things like rugs or tables, which depending on the uniqueness and quality, I'd call art.

That's very interesting and valuable feedback, thank you! I love the general preference for quirky local pieces. You'll get those Bitcoin posters up on the wall one day I'm sure...

I am an artist and I buy art, but usually in the form of stickers because I make very little money

Sorry. Deleted to adjust.
I love art and I’ve paid for many types of it. These days I don’t spend much on it because I’ve just gotten into Bitcoin and every sat counts. I have bought a few pieces, nothing too big—everyday things like mugs, shirts with exclusive prints, holiday souvenirs, photo shoots (that last one I also sold during my brief experience as a photographer).
I do believe it’s worth paying for art—whether because it’s the only way to get it when it’s physical, or to support the artist when it’s digital.
