You might check out Emily Oster's book Crib Sheet. It's a really good overview of how strong the empirical evidence really is for a whole bunch of different parenting topics.
As with Caplan's message, most of these claims are vastly overstated compared to how strong the evidence is.
I have heard of this one, aaah.
She was complete crap on Covid, so I had mentally relegated any/all her writing to the trashbin. Maybe I'll make an exception for this

She was actually better than 90% of the mainstream on Covid, but that's a very low bar. For instance, she was one of the main voices against school closures (amongst people who had leftwing followers).
Her problem is that she's very smart at evaluating empirical data, but very bad at seeing through propaganda.

huh... yeah, maybe that says more about me than it does about her HAHA.
reply
I think it's fair, because she was a prominent voice and ended up being wrong about almost everything, just like the rest of the establishment.
She takes a ton of shit from our side because of that very embarrassing article about how both sides need to forgive each other. What people miss is that she wasn't talking to us, she was talking to the normies.

yeah, esp that one annoyed me. And fair, maybe she's trying to be a bridge and whatever, but man... unforgivable

Will put it on my list! Thank you sir!

She has another great one, Expecting Better, but it's about pregnancy stuff and it sounds like you're out of those woods already.
reply
But maybe back into the woods in the future hopefully!
