"speculation" will ensure its survival, how?
Lets assume btc crashed dramatically (99%) .... many will sell BTC, many will stop mining, many will stop building .... a dystopian type of reality....
There will be ones who are still there betting on the future, "speculating" on its future price... that last wall of defense will eventually lead to more and more people coming back to the space ..... TLDR there will always be believers :)

If you have a long enough time horizon though you are probably right - not in your life time. But it will go to zero. When Bitcoin consumes the last of fiat and we are fully on a Bitcoin standard. Optimally at a specific pace in order to impact the least amount of people negatively.

You're not alone there! :-)
As long as I have any fiat income, I'll be buying satoshis (and litoshis) every week (or even everyday) regardless of their price, whether it's in the millions, and I'll be buying dozens of them at a time, or in the cents, and I'll be buying millions of them at a time.
