I think since SN's main distinguishing feature is still niche, a "mid size discord server" is about all you can expect until Bitcoin/Lightning become more mainstream. For example, do we know of any text-based message boards focused on bitcoin that are larger than SN? I think SN's paths to growth are A) overall growth of bitcoin/lightning (which it has no control over), B) more product offerings. On point B, I think the P2P backend they've developed is a great starting point for developing other services.
What other services do you have in mind?
My sense is that we're still small enough that each new stacker who's highly engaged makes a huge difference in the quality of the site. That implies that outreach efforts might still pay decent rewards. I don't think there's been an ad push for a few years and several of us found SN through that Fountain ad.

I think I mentioned in another thread SN's potential as a blog / newsletter / static site hosting platform. It's basically got the skeleton in place for it.
Not sure what else it could offer. NOt really a product, but I think more shareability features, like how Twitter makes it really easy for people to embed tweets in other places, could help with visibility

I remember the hosting idea.
Embeddability would be nice. I hadn't thought about it explicitly, but I have thought there could be improvements with what get's seen when SN links are shared on nostr. They need more of a description/preview to entice clicks.
I think more about growing the creator tools to attract users. For instance, being able to embed clips from Fountain would be great.

I believe SN needs to follow its own path, as it is currently going, with a fully functional approach and the goal of paying to post and comment, always to avoid spam and shit content.
I understand all these ideas and comparisons; it's a natural drive and desire to improve SN. This shows that the user community wants it to succeed.
