The Clippers are on the clock and there are some very interesting prospects on the board.
Who should they take to pair with Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan?
Also, give me your top 3 for this draft.

Curry Griffin Derozan
No explanation needed with Curry. Griffin over Harden because Harden had proven to go MIA during the playoffs. Not just the odd bad game, but consistent MIA when it mattered most. And I assume we are drafting primarily for playoff success, for winning a chip, not just the regular season. I would build my team around Griffin and not Harden. I also agree with @Undisciplined in the pod that it felt like Griffin was held back by Doc Rivers, and had he run into a better coach, he might have had a different career. And Derozan rounds up the top 3 because it's personal. He's the second greatest Raptor yet. Also, he was sacrificed for bringing us our first chip. So, for me, he needs to be included in the top 3.

Would you take Harden over Jrue?
reply
That's a tough one. I want to take Harden over Jrue, because of personal accolades, and Harden is clearly the better player. But Jrue is so good at his role as a shut down perimeter defender. I guess it depends on what kind of team I have at the moment. If I already have a good team (or a team with good young pieces like OKC in 2023), I know Jrue will help put me over the top. But if my team sucks, Harden will make my team relevant, but he is probably not going to win me a championship.
reply
Well, that hints at another great question: Would OKC have won a title with Jrue over Harden?
KD, Russ, and Jrue would have been an amazing trio.

I say yes to that. They had prime Ibaka as well. Quite the roster at the time.

Had Ibaka started stretching the floor already or did his 3-point range come later?

If I remember correctly, it was his more athletic days, where he was averaging about 7-8 rebounds and having 2-3 blocks a game. The 3 point shot came later during the Raptors years.

Curry Harden Griffin

I think there's a case that Griffin was severely held back by Doc's lack of imagination.
He became an awesome point forward who could stretch the floor for a couple of years in Detroit before his knees completely gave out.
reply
Yeah and the knee injury to start his career didn’t help as well.
Doc rivers is so overrated!

Curry and it’s not close.
Nice draft.
Curry Harden Derozan.

I agree. Harden has him beat by VORP, but that's just a regular season number.
I think Harden is the most capable of carrying a team, but Steph's by far the easiest to build a contender around.
Hot take: I'd take Jrue over Harden, too.
