I think I should start trying it. The better approach would be to see how this goes. 

I'm from India and 100s of million here still live in villages and are not so much into tech. If we want them to attract to something, we need to get it to them. 
One reason I wanna do it because most people here don't know that "Bitcoin" exists, a some know that it does, and only a few know what it is.

What's the best and simplest way to promote Bitcoin?

Ah, that's harder, since you don't want to be too pushy.

One option is to wear bitcoin gear or put bitcoin stickers on your stuff, naturally inviting people to ask.

I don't do that though because I don't really want to advertise myself as a bitcoiner. 

I sometimes bring bitcoin up in conversation, especially if people complain about inflation, house prices, etc.
