I've had some success.
But only with the already Bitcoin curious.
Create your own book on Bitcoin. Distribute it to people who seen curious about Bitcoin.
For people you run across like your dentist or therapist or something. Just ask them if they know about Bitcoin.
If no, tell them how old Bitcoin is now. And ask them how much do you think 1 Bitcoin is worth.
Imagine a country that's 14 years old. How much would that country's dollar be worth in US dollars?
Force them to guess. Then, "higher higher higher higher" at them until you cut to the chase. And blow their minds. And today is down like 80% from it's highest price. It's a good time to start learning about Bitcoin.
Create in them a curiosity about what could do something like that. Then go on about Bitcoin's qualities and about what makes Bitcoin the best possible money.
I think there's lots of people right now who are wanting to get into Bitcoin, but need someone to guide them through it safely.

Wrong approach. You are selling them from start the fake promise that someday they will be "rich in fiat worthless money".
Please don't do that.

We need a small pocket sized "Bitcoin Basics" or "How to Bitcoin" or "Why Bitcoin?" brochure to hand out to the curious. Has anyone done this yet?

I agree with @darthcoin. My approach is price is absolutely irrelevant. I focus in why adoption is absolutely unstoppable.
Also, I make sure to make people understand why Bitcoin is unique. If, after you, they go by them selves to research, and find the wrong data, they might fell on the enchantment of the Shitcoins.
