pull down to refresh

We have had our rescue pup for almost a year now and boy has time flown! One thing about her though is that she never would jump into our pool and since I live in DC I haven't been able to make the trip home to carry her into the pool in Houston! Well yesterday that all changed!!!
For being a golden retriever it should be noted she CANNOT swim at all. First it was just me carrying her around the pool and showing her where all the different steps were before my mom had me let go of her a few doggy paddles away from the steps.
Welp…
No doggy paddle was used and River turned into a rock and sunk… there were a few desperate paddles then but it was to late and I had to grab her and carry her to the steps. One small step for River one giant leap for Rivers future swimming!
We will be getting her a life jacket to help her… I wanna get a shark one of course but my parents are negative Nancy’s!
You never know how dogs will react in water. I had an English Bulldog. I was warned not to let her near water because bulldogs can't swim. I took her to a huge dog park in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. There was a large lake in one corner. She looked over at the water, started running, and leaped in. She then swam completely across the lake. From that moment on, I let her swim whenever I could. She loved it. No other dog I have owned could swim.
