I had already verbally agreed to another job but I took a risk and ended up accepting a job across the country in a city I wasn't familiar with and had basically no family or friends. I started a business with the guy and even though the SEO company I joined had many rounds of layoffs which eventually included me our side gig was still going and we ended up selling it. Not everything went well but coming back to Houston at the request of my wife I got my first DNA job and it seems to have worked out well. I was very worried at the time though

That’s really inspiring. Taking that leap even with all the uncertainty clearly opened new doors for you. Thanks for sharing your story.

Deciding to lift a 100-year-old house in Seattle, reframe the lower level, pour a new slab, redo all the electrical in the house, and do all new plumbing without hiring any contractors...while my wife was on maternity leave for our second child.
Project took a lot longer than we expected, cost more than I budgeted, and made life very unpleasant (we were entering the house through a ladder for a few months...), but when we were done we had a 2 br 1 bath with kitchen apartment we could rent out.

That was an incredible risk and commitment you must have been through, but the payoff sounds totally worth it.

Few times...
Every time I moved from one country to another one was a big risk that completely changed my life. Always, the change was to improve my situation.
Taking this big risks lead me to learn some English, study abroad, meet my wife and we together took the risk to go down into the 🧡 orange rabbit hole...

Among the bad ones, moving in with a woman I met only two weeks prior. Or, telling my wood shop and CAD teacher in high school I wouldn't take his C++ class (which delayed my discovery of programming).
Among the good ones, choosing to go to college as a reentry student.

That’s a powerful mix of choices, that shows how both good and bad risks can shape us in unexpected ways. Kudos!

Yes, I decided to sell what little I had in Cuba and leave via Venezuela to Brazil, paying a coyote and risking my life, that of my wife, and that of a recently turned 1-year-old son, all to escape that hell and start a new life from scratch here in Brazil. You could say I started walking again at 30.
It was a super difficult decision to leave everything behind, and it has completely changed our lives.

I'm always afraid of taking risks so I live a very ordinary life, reading and watching people make decision that make or break them.
