I think BOLT 12 invoices plus NFC, especially with inexpensive NFC stickers will help a lot solving that problem or, at least, making it much less of it.
Also, for cheaper phones which might not include NFC, I think that paying invoices through a bluetooth connection could be an option, in a similar fashion as how some points of information in museums, etc. transmit info to their customers through a set of bluetooth headset.

Well it's relatively, I think what matters is the balance between both, as both users are the key target and most importantly the goal is sustainability and archiving trust in a transaction... Through the year I was faced with alot of setbacks, personally that was when I realized most things I had were wants more than necessities... As long as the other works just fine, there's no point... Just sell sort out your needs..

I agree, that NFC is much smoother for everyday transactions, especially when paying at shops, bars, restaurants etc. Also privacy wise much better as not everyone in store can immediately guess that you pay with BTC. But anyway also nothing wrong with having QR codes for online commerce and for people who don't have phones that support NFC yet. We can just have both, so I don't see a problem here.

You are talking feature phones, how do bitcoin work on such? I saw a post on Bitcoin magazine about doing such but it was vague.

There is a USSD-based wallet service called Machankura, which can be used by essentially all phones in Africa, including feature phones.
Machankura has had wide coverage and many posts here on SN:
