They need to add Lightning integration

Just installed the app a couple of days ago when I listened to this podcast from Opt-Out: "SimpleX chat and how privacy aligns with the future of computing w/ Evgeny from SimpleX" https://overcast.fm/+vSwTqJjw4
Very interesting stuff!
I've bookmarked these links to read to learn about the network architecture and protocol: https://github.com/simplex-chat/simplexmq/blob/stable/protocol/overview-tjr.md (whitepaper) https://github.com/simplex-chat/simplex-chat/blob/stable/docs/protocol/simplex-chat.md (protocol)
You can also run your own server/relay: https://github.com/simplex-chat/simplexmq

This looks like better alternative to Signal.
  • open source server which (I think) means anyone can run a server (good for censorship resistance) and clone apps can interact with the protocol
  • no global identifiers (you have different id per contact so hard to figure out who you are from metadata)
This looks solid. Would love to hear other people's opinion.

Sounds promising, though I don't think I fully grasp the concept.

It's kind of similar to nostr, although instead of a pair of keys, you get connect to the servers and create a one time link to send to other people to start a one on one conversation (or a group chat). I find it very easy and intuitive to use, it's taken me less than 5 minutes from installation to be participating on a group and maintaining private chats.
I like nost much, much, much better, though, but I quite like SimpleX, too.
