Zero carbs is just the next diet fad. Your body has evolved an entire metabolic pathway for carbohydrates over hundreds of thousands of years. The same goes for your teeth, that can deal with almost type of food and don't resemble carnivorous teeth at all. Heck, even real carnivores still get around 20% of their calories from plants

Processed carbs, much like processed meat or processed fiat money, is what is unhealthy.

Wholemeal bread, especially freshly baked, is both healthy and delicious

My family has always eaten a lot of meat in all forms, but now there are 2 folks that got gout and they can't walk the next day after eating any meat.
So that makes me worried about switching to fully carnivore. I don't have data that gout is caused by the meat, but it's a common knowledge and when you have gout, then stopping eating meat is the only way to heal.

Red meat and organ meat is one risk factor, but more often it's a combination of things, and especially sugar/simple carbs, obesity and diabetes. Best to ask a local professional for advice on improving your family's diet

reply

Yeah, there have been many doctors involved, etc. Neither person is obese or has diabetes. The thing is that until you get it you can eat whatever, when you get it you have to stop eating everything good for 1-2 years :/

Processed white bread is extremely unhealthy

Grains are simple carbs and unprocessed

Homemade grain bread NOT white bread is OK if you need to absolutely have bread

This terrible processed carb diet is responsible for lower testosterone levels and higher cancer incidences

reply

Dark rye bread is the best.

Whole grain is what you get after winnowing (getting rid of chaff). Afaik paleo excludes most grain (silly of course, as it's a great source of energy)

Gluten is not a form of carb, it's a protein

There are hundreds of "natural" (not bred by humans) species of potatoe in South America. They do not cause famines. A lack of potatoes because of monoculture and potatoe-diseases caused the famine

Bread is not healthy. Bread, breakfast, and central banking are some of the biggest lies told to man.

reply

How its not healthy?

reply

It’s just carbs.

reply

If it prevents you from starving I consider it healthy :)

reply

Candy and pure glucose will also suffice to power your body in that situation. Unless Modern man does not require the pure energy format that bread delivers.

reply

So you suggest to replace bread with candy πŸ˜‚

I don’t know who needs to hear this but One-meal-a-day is the solution to your weight problem.

I developed an attitude here in the Mediterranean area to eat Baguette like 2-3 times a day. Thats far too much and I try to reduce it drastically this year.

I've tossed the bread, and now reach for the Cheerios!!!

Why Cheerios are better than coffee for breakfast, according to scientists in a new study that will make you question everything you eat

(Narrator: Ignore the article, and then toss both the bread and the Cheerios)

While both I and the missus love bread, we each have our reasons to cut down the carbs. Hence as a compromise, we eat a slice of a French brioche loaf 🍞 a day to satisfy the palate after adding a few more rounds to our workout.
