There have been many attempts to create p2p censorship resistant messengers. Each one has their strengths and weaknesses (Bitchat too). I’ll try to prepare a comparison and publish it tomorrow.
Tox works well globally with the only problem I can see is the need to share the key to encryption with your respondent without that initial sharing message being intercepted. Bitchat looks to be restricted to bluetooth range so requiring a high concentration of users to achieve connectivity? Plus no Bitchat program available for linux?
