Interesting. I don't really know enough to comment, but the claim that US clings to ideology more than pragmatism seems true to me. I wonder how much of Americans' ideological fervor is driven by the left/right domestic politics, which then translates into who gets elected. Most Chinese people I've met are eminently pragmatic and materialistic (that's not necessarily a good thing, but it does mean they don't make as many dumb mistakes due to ideology)

I agree 100% with the content of this podcast- I traded with Chinese for a decade and read extensively about China and was amazed by how different Chinese culture and business paradigms are.
The west is simply not understanding China and that ignorance/miss-reading is resulting in a massive threat to the west.

In fact most westeners need to watch this video because the fucking IGNORANCE and DENIAL of westerners regarding China is an literally existential threat to western civilisation.
