That's one possible lesson, indeed.
I am on government contracts, so I'm likely biased~~
Stop enabling tyranny please
Tyranny defined as the state terrorists forcing people to do things or pay for things without voluntary contract.
We pay taxes or we are locked up in a cage like animals. That’s tyranny. I did not agree or sign any contract authorizing the taxes I pay.
I’m sure you can find regular work.

I don't want regular work.
No private company would pay for the kind of fundamental research I do.
I support your right to opt out.

Side question.
Where do you see this most likely to develop first, minimal or absence of government and voluntary contractual opting in/out to any system of governance?
I'm in Korea, a very collectivistic society. No one would even entertain the thought this to be a viable option.

I believe the closest to it today would be nomadic bitcoiners with multiple passports. We have all in a small way opted out of the government system by using Bitcoin, how much that develops, and if there can be any physical “free cities” or such, I think it will appear more similar to a Hong Kong, the people will have to agree to some terms but the economic benefit they provide will grant them special status with the State they are located in.
It’s first and foremost a non-violent non-force system.
And ok yes in Korea you have a mono-culture so the argument for implicit approval of government is much more credible than in the US.
Wish you the best.

Thanks.
Interesting you bring up Hong Kong, as its special status has been gradually but steadily eroded by the mainland in recent years. I'm not too hopeful on their future as a free city.
