The miniseries is putting pressure on movies. Streaming platforms seem to be opting for the high-budget multipart series rather than traditional movie (I imagine the miniseries fits their revenue model much better). Even if many of these are not very good, it seems to have robbed movies of some of their energy.

Also, movie releases feel like they are dominated by sequels and remakes. Few people are willing to risk new things in that realm. This may also be true of miniseries...but less so, I think.
