My kids are still pretty young (oldest is 10), so device use is mostly supervised.
I'm torn on filtering as they get older though. I'm not sure how much better off they are by not being allowed to do something (because of a router setting) as opposed to not being allowed to do something because we say they can't/shouldn't do it.
We have firearms I'm the house. They know how to access them. They know they aren't supposed to, and I am pretty confident they won't.

I grew up knowing where the guns of my father were and how to access them and the ammunition. Nothing ever happened as we brothers were very responsible good kids.
Retrospectively, I think it was highly irresponsible by my father not to hide the keys to gun safe better. This could have gone the wrong way.
(And just for the record, I like guns & shooting. Was in the army and have hunting license. Biggest gun shot: Leopard 2 Combat Tank).
