Most people trust the opinion of their social circle when making purchasing decisions. As data from Statista Consumer Insights shows, many also trust the friendly people who freely share their lives with us on social media and at least feel like our acquaintances: influencers.

Well, in Cuba there weren't many influencers, so to speak, due to the poor state of the internet, but after coming to live in Brazil, I can say that the level of "Instagrammers"—in other words, influencers—is incredible.
Here, I can say that, without saying 100%, we could say that 80 or 90 percent of them dedicate their entire lives to social media and sell you a course on something.
My wife and I laugh because you go and see something that catches your attention, and somewhere in the video, the person tells you they have a course on it...it's truly incredible.

Brazil’s got over 200 million people, it’s a huge market. Here in Portugal, we really feel the Brazilian influence. Luckily, I’m not caught up in that whole thing. I do follow a few Brazilian YouTube channels that I think are actually good quality, and I wouldn’t even call them influencers, to me, they’re just solid YouTubers.

Actually, for some time now I have become very selective when it comes to following someone.

I don’t have any data, but I feel the same way, it’s doing more harm than good. There are some good influences out there, but the problem is that now, and it’s not slowing down, there are more and more influencers popping up. And that just means more trash. We’re living in a world where 'everyone' wants to be an influencer, which to me is just another way of saying they don’t wanna do anything real with their life.

to influence minds in a positive way, promoting creative works, is a noble craft; alas, as most professions today, this one has been especially perverted and is especially damaging, since it's being blasted into people's consciousness 24/7;
