I'm being facetious of course. It's more like a chess match than a war.
I could sense a tension growing last year within weeks of exploring lightning for SN by reading between the lines on twitter and later when I posted If you're in the Lightning space, catch up on The Browser Wars.
I don't have a dog in this fight obviously. There is good reason for LL to not support the spec changes - developer attention is scarce and they have a ton of users pulling them all kinds of directions. But some of the recent communication is ambiguous and people are drawing conclusions from it.
