I seek guidance.

I am a writer and a poet, and I currently have a couple of websites that I use to submit my work to society. Over the years, I've attained very little traction, but I've greatly enjoyed sharing whatever it is that I write.

After discovering bitcoin and nostr a little less than a year ago, I have decided to move my work into this space. I am looking for "best practices" kind of feedback.

First, do I even need to replace my WordPress sites with equivalent ones on nostr?

Over the past month, I've started forwarding published works from WordPress to Damus. From there, it makes its way around the community. My desire, though, is to write and publish my work within nostr, organically, and not have to bring it in from the fiat world.

I've started playing around with npub.pro, but I can't create in that application. I can bring stuff in, but not make it. (Unless, of course, I'm missing something.)

I came across Shipyard yesterday, and drafted a post, but I haven't published anything from there yet. Anyone use Shipyard?

This morning, I wrote a poem on Nosbin. I published it, but it hasn't yet shown in my feed. I'm not sure how Nosbin works.

I've also written and published an article on Docstr, but I don't think it gets relayed around nostr; or at least it hasn't yet.

Finally, I wrote and published something on Habla in late-February, but that function is not currently available right now.

So, I'm seeking guidance from this community. I'm looking for a place to write and publish my poems and essays within nostr.

I am grateful for any and all suggestions.

Best practices for writing/publishing on Nostr:

Keys first: Backup your nsec offline, lose it and your identity's gone.

Set up your Ln address

Client combo: Draft in Shipyard or Habla for prelim then post via Amethyst/Primal for final take.

For poems keep them as kind1 notes and essays as kind23 (While Kind 1 is for shitposts, Kind 23 is for deeper writing like blogs that clients like Habla or Primal display as full articles, not just shitposts)

Relays matter: Pick popular ones wss://relay.damus.io for example, test by searching your npub in another app.

Engage by replying/zapping others, traction comes from the protocol, not algos.

Someone earlier today mention "kind" posts. Is there a way to select between kind1 and kind23, or does it just kind of happen?

Honestly I don't know, I've only shitposted which is default kind1

I've never written a blog so I don't know if it automatically defaults across to kind23 when you reach a word limit etc

Can you elaborate on this? Are you talking about WordPress the service or the software?

Use https://habla.news/ to publish long form. You can then "quote" or "repost" it in your Damus, so people have higher chances seeing it. Also use the habla news link to post your content to other media that you use, to give people chance to discover you (e.g. it would be cool if you post the habla link on Bluesky, Stacker News, Twitter and mastodon).

I really enjoyed Habla earlier this year. I published one long form piece in February about discovering bitcoin, but I haven’t been able to publish any thing on that platform lately.

When I log in and click on the “Write” button, it brings me to a page that says the feature I selected is “coming soon”. So, I’m not sure what’s going on there, but I would love to use Habla again.

I like your idea about sending my nostr generated content into the other social media platforms! Right now, I publish articles and poems on Wordpress and then forward them to those same social media platforms, and then also to nostr.

I am certainly trying to flip all of that around and create from nostr. Thanks for your time!
