"Late Stage Capitalism"
Screams "I listened to Marxists influenced professors".
"Crony Capitalism"
Screams Ron Paul / liberty movement
"Regulatory Capture"
Rand fan or maybe a republican / libertarian.
If I encounter someone using the word, i'd probalby get them to articulate what they mean. What's "late stage" about it. Was the capitalism ever good? How did it evolve?
They were talking about the early church being closest to Communism vs. Capitalism so I was trying to get them to define Communism. They didn't describe communism. They described a voluntary free market society... but used Communism as the word to describe it...
I did say that what we have isn't Capitalism but rather Crony Capitalism. I like free market as a term to describe what we need.
I told them, you can't use a word that people have a very specific idea about to describe something very different if you want to be clear.
This might sound crazy, but I think myself and maybe many of us have UNDERESTIMATED the influence of leftist economics and political thought on the masses. The vast majority of these people reject the idea that this stuff comes from Marxism at the root. They wave that off. Wild to watch.
