... I volunteered ... didn't result in my compensation
that is right! Ahahha. I always thought volunteering was unpaid!
... but a user issue, ...
I feel you. Story of my life.
Volunteering is stupid. Being nice is a pain in the butt. My error for feeling sorry. I now have a few weeks to decide whether I'm going to send a reminder for the invoice they NAK'd within minutes of me sending it, or just let it be.
Just call that a learning cost and let it go. If that client comes back, you already know what you gotta do: tell him it's X bucks an hour. ahhhha
If that client comes back they will first have to pay this invoice. lol
It's your right, and honestly, he totally deserves it.
Its a $1B/yr revenue corporation!
shameful! They're ruining their whole reputation for barely anything.
At least with me. I won't doxx them but it's kind of dumb yes.
fun fact: I also had in the past a technical intervention like this, that ended up with "oh it was just the power cable unplugged...". But they paid me just for plugging the cable.
But then the guys started a company and kept me around as their "IT guy". After some years the company get bigger and they start paying me in BTC.
So don't be upset that today you weren't paid... find the opportunity to keep them paying you. And better be in sats.
Yeah I'm good now. 3pm drinks help sometimes. lol.
I won't burn them, just, it sucks that they're this arrogant.

Having a total shitshow of a day since my 6am because I volunteered to solve a problem for a former client last night and today, after I finished investigation, there was no technical problem but a user issue, which, even though "the problem was solved", didn't result in my compensation. I'm very much pissed off rn.
On the bright side, my grandfather always said that you may drink "if there's a 5 in the clock". I'm of the opinion that I may open my bottle of ruby port at 5 minutes to 3 - in 10 minutes from now.
