Well, the method is right (yey for data) but the intent is a bit off imho.
DarthCoin is an entitled bully who preaches left and right. I read the thread that this is motivated by. It's total nonsense and they're just making random claims with neither explanation nor data. The best you get are analogies and hand-waving. They also completely misunderstood your post - which I interpreted as your way of praising SN. I thought it was fine. DarthCoin dumping their problems with ln on you is just nuts. If their goal is to maximize some metric for themselves, it's their problem to work at. Sure, they can influence and yell, but you can just ignore that and miss nothing. Nodes are running for different reasons. Some for routing, others for data collection, yet others to counter data collection, and some just for fun. Like it should be.
making random claims with neither explanation nor data.
That alone is an example of how OP have no idea how to run a routing node. That shows exactly that is a Tor only node. That means is a total shit routing node. Nobody sane with a good public routing node will want to connect to Tor only nodes. Is like shooting yourself in your own foot.
I've seen many plebs confused that a personal node could also be a routing node. TOTALLY WRONG.
I do not have to provide any more data to support my words, just looking into his node amboss page and you could see how wrong he allocate liquidity.
You have no idea about how to run public routing nodes.

I don't know what to make of this. Are you working with engagement farming at SN?
I'm kind of new here and will take your bait. If your critique is of the node being shown as off-line, that really is just nonsense. The indicator shows off-line status as soon as it's configured and one fails to send a ping to their API within some specified time. These pings do not even use the lightning network! I actually send my pings via tor just for the heck of it, even though my node has clearnet addresses as well.
As far as I've gathered there are at least a few nodes with quite some capacity that is tor only. Idk how they do for routing, as I have not seen any data.
Yes, traffic over tor is slower - but how much does a tor-only routing node in a path actually impact payments? I'd need data for that. Even if the impact is significant it doesn't mean much more than this insight being input to what you want to do.
So, sorry mate. If you want people outside you congregation to listen - you do need data.

a short reminder for you...

just watch your node (if you run such thing). Tor only nodes will always have lost connection with peers not only that are slow. That will have a huge impact in routing payments and peers soon will close the channels with your shity Tor only node and avoid your routes.
That is a fact confirmed by many routing nodes runners.

I'll work on getting my clearnet address up and running. Do you have a guide for it?
