At the end of the day if you are taking controlled substances that were not prescribed to you or you are taking illegal drugs I am not sure why people would want those individuals to have access to firearms? You are taking things that alter your state of consciousness aka your not thinking straight... thats not a time to introduce firearms to someone.
Nothing good comes of this and it only will further push the Left to clamp down on the Second Amendment more as soon as someone high on something starts shooting into a crowd. Plus lets not forget that an altered state of consciousness tends to get people either off of crimes of heavily reduced sentences.

People have the right to defend themselves with deadly force if they are being attacked. I think felons who have served their time and are released should also be allowed to own firearms. People who do drugs or are ex criminals have just as much of a right to use the best tool we have for defence as anyone else... IMHO
