A doomed cat! A woman was fined €1,250 because her cat regularly visited her neighbor's house... and this is no joke!
Rémi, the ginger cat from Rue de la Treille in Agde (Hérault), has been deemed a criminal by the court in Béziers. He is accused of causing damage: paw prints on a wall that was drying, urine on a duvet, and feces in the garden.
The judge fined his owner Dominique €1,250, with an additional penalty of €30 for each time Rémi crosses the fence again.
But that's not all: the cat is accused of being a repeat offender, and his owner has been summoned to appear in court again in December. The fine could rise to €2,000, with a penalty increased to €150 for each new visit by the ginger cat to the garden...
👉 Dominique laments: "In this 90-page court file, there is no real evidence that it was Rémi. There is another ginger cat in the neighborhood. Since the ruling, I've been keeping Rémi at home. He's gained weight and become aggressive. I can't even let him out into my garden for fear that he'll jump the fence. It's as if he's been sentenced to house arrest."
A story that is both absurd and sad.
