I have spent a lot of time on nostr over the past month. I think there's a ton of promise, bit I'm also worried that bitcoiners dominate the protocol. This may do more harm than good to the cause of bitcoin adoption in the long run.
Most conversation I see is either about nostr recent developments or bitcoin. I hope the protocol grows to include all the views and opinions expressed in a typical social media context- varied political beliefs, cultural norms, and even shitcoins.
Bitcoin can be the currency for the protocol without dominating the conversation. I have heard fiatjaf express similar sentiments and concerns.

Good point. When non-bitcoiners catch on though, couldn’t they just use clients and relays that ignore anything to do with bitcoin/lightning if they wanted?
reply
Yeah. Definitely. That's what is so great about the decentralized relay structure. I'm just hoping that nostr doesn't get pigeonholed as a place for bitcoiners early on, which may inhibit use by everyone else.

everyone is a bitcoiner, they just don't know it yet :)
