Where's the option to pay the bounty?

@sox, the "pay bounty" button wasn't there when I clicked on this comment from my notifications.

Wooooo

I have no idea how Japan is related

reply

The news was a tsunami

reply

Ah, yes a tsunami is a very Japanese thing

reply

Now there's a pay bounty button here, but it appears unpaid

reply

How did you tease out Iceland in the end?

reply

I had to look up the details that he could remember to figure out where it had happened

reply

It appears paid on my end

I wonder if this thread has some caching issues

You can pay bounties multiple times to the same user, but not the same comment - if this is what you were seeing

reply

It's also showing on everyone else's comments

Yep! I wasn't clear enough with what I said earlier, sorry. From the bounties release post:

The OP of the bounty can reward any child comment the bounty, including nested comments, and multiple comments
reply

There was a tsunami in Iceland???

reply

There's a lot of seismic activity in the mid-Atlantic rift

Mhh, I can't reproduce in dev... If you're talking about the full comment view (top) then it's normal to not see the pay bounty button, even though we should probably add it.

If you're not, then it's odd 🤔

reply

When I was only seeing the comment I wanted to pay, the button wasn't there.

When I opened the full post and scrolled to it, the button was there.

The thing is:

This is the layout of a comment in which the pay bounty button cannot appear

Instead, this is where it'll appear:

I hope that this is what you meant ç_ç I'm going to create a feature request to support the button on full comment view.

edit: here you go ^^

reply

Yes, that is what I meant.

On ridiculous threads like this one, it can be hard to find the comment. If I had just clicked on "parent", would that have taken me to the view of the comment that has the button?

Exactly. It’s not really clear, to the user, what clicking parent does, and there are a lot of stuff like this on SN.

we’re going to address these UX holes 🫡

reply

In most cases that I've experienced, opening on the parent comment would be better anyways.

I personally like what happens when you click “view x more replies”. Sends you to the comment with some parent comments as context behind.

It might be a good solution for notification clicks

I was so close when I said Greenland. The answer was the same as my question from the saloon.

reply

Ha! Your question from the saloon is what made me think of this.

reply

Haha, then I should get a share of the dividends. Just kidding! I don’t remember any news about a tsunami in Iceland. I remember the volcano though!

reply

It was probably caused by volcanic activity
