ok, I needed to apply for access... I applied under "researcher" and briefly explained why I need the data
as far as i can tell, the request just went into the black hole... who knows when/if I'll hear back...

just finding out now that the move to restrict API access to only registered developers was a new move in 2023 that caused some controversy...
yet another way in which SN is superior to Reddit...
