New York. The Big Apple. The financial capitol of the world- bullshit.
It's a damn shame.
If you have any merchants in New York that want to accept Bitcoin, hit up the ZEUS team and we'd be happy to work with them. By having our merchants self-custody we're able to route around most of their arduous regulations.

You guys do a great job. I'll be paying sats for a few beers tomorrow night at PubKey using your setup.

Cheers!

Reminder: Bitcoin is permissionless, but require big balls to accept it.
Also:
A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash would allow online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution.
That means, you do not need to wait for any payment processor to start accepting it.

If I give you my permission to accept bitcoin, you cannot say it is permissionless anymore 🤣

Because of an a-hole named Benjamin Lawsky. He created a complex load of gibberish called the New York bitlicense, then he left government to make money advising companies how to wade through the bullshit.

So much "expertise" in our over-regulated economy is not really expertise at all, but just experience navigating the bureaucratic maze. And, as you said, the maze was often created by the ones selling their "expert" services.
That's why I'm suspicious of GDP numbers. If the economy is growing because of lawyers, bureaucrats, and compliance officers, is that really growth? (No offense to lawyers)
I don't know what plebs can do about this, if anything. Attempts to lessen government power never seem to go anywhere, because the cold hard truth is that that isn't what the people want. They want more government power, just exercised in ways that suit them.

Wall Street....

Jewish bankers own it.

That’s too bad but not unsurprising.

If true, what exactly will force the new york state to change its stance? I mean if a state (not even a sovereign country with an army) can stop it so easily, what does it say about the so called permissionless money?
reply
Nothing is stopped. It's just less convenient.

Where are you reading this? I rang Google search nothing I found implies this, but it was a quick reading. I may have missed.
