If this keeps happening with other clients in the future because of the protocol itself, this is actually some kind of death sentence for nostr. In order to change the way we do social media, this stuff has to go mainstream. For this, we need apple, unfortunately.
I don’t think it’s that bad. We can always build PWAs, which lag behind native apps in terms of features/performance, but are way more censorship resistant.

That's very true. Technically, everything will work. But your average Joe wants to use an app. They want to use "THE APP", whatever it will be. We need the average Joe.

It's nothing against nostr, Apple just has a minimum feature set for social media apps, the only one he is missing now is account deletion. Apple probably isn't aware of nostr at all

you don't need apple, no one needs apple. they are absolutely horrible for everything crypto related, particularly p2p payments. that aside nih syndrome is their entire business model. making an app for an open protocol on apple is asinine.
