This is an update to #1292915

Over the last roughly 4 hours we have learned a ton. Most importantly the two national guardsman shot ARE ALIVE the West Virginia Gov. was given wrong reports and boy have I not been happier to hear a reports was wrong.

During the attack the suspect turned the corner to the metro and immediately opened fire on the two guardsman in front of him. DC's Mayor was the first to come out and say that this was a TARGETED attack on the National Guard. Thankfully there were other National Guardsman around who were able to engage with the suspect and stop the attack. Other members of law enforcement were rapidly on the scene and able to arrest the individual.

Of the two guardsman hit one was life flighted from the area. The other was able to be transported via ambulance. Because of the helicopters being airborne they actually issued a "ground stop" for DCA to keep the air space completely clear. The gunmen was shot as well, they do not know who it exactly was who shot him but they are investigating.

DC currently has roughly 2200 National Guardsman and in the immediate aftermath an additional 500 are being activated and deployed to the city. DC is still a wild area in the areas that the guardsman are not. I mean we did have freaking kids a few weeks ago start fighting National Guardsman in my area of Navy Yard.
