That's like asking if Bitoin could grow to your fiat currency of choice size.
Nostr isn't a social network, but a protocol with the potential to become much larger and relevant than any social network ever has o could. So, that's not a fair comparison, for fElon's site, that is.
Maybe one (or more than one) of the nostr clients could grow to it's size, another one to Pinterest or IG sizes, another one to µ€ŧ@ size... but that would not be Nostr, but a tiny part of it.

Nostr will hopefully replace the internet as we know it eventually

doubtful, it is unlikely to ever be as simple.

A better question is can any twitter sized social network survive off of (out of "consensus") with nostr?
As to monetization, two-sided-marketplaces is the big one, specifically, reputation management on relays will be the big money maker as it relies on costly signaling. I also expect this may onboard the masses to bitcoin and bring about hyperbitcoinization.
The carpenters, drivers, shoppers, artisans, painters, electricians, chefs, etc. around the world who will provide goods/services over nostr will be the ones getting paid in and adopting bitcoin, which is much better than Cantillionaire-led adoption.
I know, you probably think I'm insane, let's check back in a year.

I think it can... Each relay can be twitter-sized and only cost a few $100 per month.
