This thread is for people that do not like Nostr. I personally think that Nostr is an amazing protocol and it will help increase LN adoption. I however want to know why some of you guys hates it.

I do not hate it. Just I am not so excited about, like you.
There are some aspects that people should think about BEFORE jumping in as lemmings.
Is nostr necessary? Yes.
Is nostr useful ? Maybe, depends of each user necessity.
Is nostr and alternative to twatter? I think nostr is much more than twatter. Nostr is a protocol that could be used for many things.
Right now is in a hype phase, like happen with many things. People will jump in just to post their shity useless spam.
Why? Because people are retarded and don't think before using s tool like this.
Many spammers will just think that nostr is their way to reach victims for free and uncensorable.
People today do mot have any morality.
Will take time until nostr will be a very useful tool.
Now, just test it, learn it, post interesting stuff and try not to spam the others.
Don't do to others what others could do to you.
Remember: all your notes on nostr will remain forever recorded, until ALL rrlays will delete them. So in order to post garbage and things without any sense, try posting only interesting things.
To chat with others you have a shit load of other apps. No need to use nostr as your main chat platform.
I have spoken.

It’s not really good at anything in particular.
Data permanence? no. Data impermanence? no. Identity management? no. Data propagation? Maybe, if you’re on the same relays as the person you’re trying to reach…
It also wants to be a general purpose protocol but a lot of the NIPs that are getting merged are specifically for the purposes of making a better Twitter replacement protocol. And they won’t be able to compete with At Protocol or Farcaster in that arena because those are not general purpose. Those are only designed to be twitter replacements.

Old post but I'll comment anyway.
Currently nostr is shifted hugely to quantity over quality. Endless endless quantity... with vary sparing quality.
For all I know when I 'access' nostr it's all bots. It's just endless... spam-like content. There's no meat or potatoes... just watered-down dressing if that.
At least stacker news requires a sat to comment... and 100 sats to post. It's a great anti-spam measure and really breeds quality, imo. Quality through competition, through consequence.
Nostr right now is censorship resistance at any cost - just because you can you should. Whereas in the real world just because you can does not mean that you actually should. (Maybe you rando posting on nostr should keep pictures of your cup-of-coffee to yourself because who gives a ****) My critiques could honestly go on and on.

There are a lot of hurdles to overcome, for sure - and the recent Damus App Store approval exploded usage in a negative way - of all the newcomers, maybe just 5-10% are Bitcoiners. Perhaps a similarly small amount are non-spammers.
But the 10% of Bitcoiners that are there are very high signal. Much better than your average Twitter browsing session. There is a newfound sense of community which is very, very valuable.

Adding to your point. I have personally spoke with a newcomer on Nostr via Global Chat and she was only on Nostr because her brother is in IT and he spoke about it and she was bored of twitter. She didnt know anything about Bitcoin and was worried that it was a requirement to use Nostr.
The very next day, she had a LN wallet and was happy to have some Sats and learning about BTC.
I believe that Nostr will help educate people to the LN.

You may not find too many haters here. Bitcoin and nostr go together like bacon and eggs.

spam. I install amethyst and I'm already joined to two general chats and it's an endless stream of repeated messages about some wechat group.

Interesting note, Try to use another client like Iris. Clients can filter relays and Iris is doing a good job of blocking spams by evaluating the engagement and structure of an account.

This will get better as i'm pretty that with alongside adoption, POW usage to get messages published on major nodes will be required

there is something nice about a forum such as stacker news that just requires a browser

Nostr is nothing different than Stacker in the sense that all you need is a LN wallet that can generate a pub key for Nostr (Alby) and you can sign to multiple browser clients like snort.social or Iris.

It’s very clunky. The adding relays can be a pain. Once you post no deleting ever. A pain to post media. Always reloading. Messages disappearing if a relay goes down.
