No, branta is only to verify the receivable address, is like spamhaus for LN.
But they do not provide the payment.

I think this is backed by a btcpay server.

There are no details yet. I'm waiting for it, I'm a layman on the subject, what I saw is that Branta says the destination address is correct, like an insurance or something. That's useless, shouldn't it be BTCpay or some other POS that guarantees this?

Same is doing spamhaus for emails. But slowly almost all email servers "subscribed" to spamhaus to "verify" an email or a server and now spamhaus can lock down an entire communication with a specific email server.

Is a dangerous slippery slope if we really want to have a permissionless network. They start with destinations, and later will be imposed also on senders... The BTCpay service will say, ok I want to see if you are also "verified" by branta...and so on.
