I noticed an increasing demand for ccs/sats trades so I thought, as 0xbitcoiner, about finding an easy way to keep track of requests and visualize the data.
The current market includes orders from @0xbitcoiner, @Darthcoin, @ek, @nokness, @SimpleStacker, @Undisciplined, @thebullishbitcoiner, and myself.
I invite anyone looking to trade ccs for sats and vice versa to add a comment below, open an issue in the GH repository, or simply submit a PR. Here a template if needed;
Title: New Market Order

// Example: I'm buying 50 CC for 30 sats
- Username: @yourNym
- Type: buy
- CC: 50
- Sats: 30
- Post: https://stacker.news/items/0000000
Stay humble, stack sats
That kind of chart looks all fancy and stuff, but I think it’s way easier to get when it’s in a table.

I'm confused, are you sure you got the chart right? Based on the current order book, there are overlapping bids/asks, so the depth chart should overlap right?
reply
The overlapping order is the one in the first line? The overlapping bid/ask is the old one from @Darthcoin selling and buying CCs as 1:1 rate. It's arguably obsolete, kept for the records.
The chart and the whole order book, I'm sure there is plenty of stuff that could be improved. Considering I'm not a trader nor a dev, I'm pretty happy with the current results. It indeed needs much more work. Any contribution is welcome.

@supertestnet must have tons of CCs!

That could be a good campaign to launch on nostr and xx
reply
Trading CCs for sats could get the supertestnet back to SN.
reply
Depends on how you wanna look at it. The way I’m thinking about it (buying CCs), the price should be in sats, and the bid and ask are the amounts (CCs).
reply
Ideally, yes. In the repo I just simplified the price in sat for 1cc giving have a common rate to evaluate trades
reply
Great idea! A table could be a parallel way to maintain the orders data, easy to add in the README file or under the chart for simplicity.

I'm regularly buying CCs, like every two weeks around 10k, so I'm very interested in buying them at a cheaper rate than 1:1. Make me offers, and I might buy some if I like the rate!

Now we have a place to share our needs, and in the worst case, SN vending machine is open 24/7.
reply
CCs are the stable-credits for sats LOL
reply
isn't that stable; this set of offers are provig 1cc≠1sat
Is your original offer still valid at a 1:1 rate?
reply
not changed. But the problems still stands. Zapping a post it will affect all the stats. The only way is to send as a DM but receiver must disable his external wallet.
I am still saying: we should all go back to use as it was before this madness with external wallets or just use CC only.
IT IS NOTHING WRONG TO USE INSIDE SN ONLY THE CCs
reply
Can't send CC through DMs, and I don't think you can send sats either.
reply
That's why we made the ~AGORA, trade your CCs here, at better rates!

But first we need to get rid of daily rewards.
reply

I'm sure rewards will be gone soon, just a useless casino hook for losers.
reply
ah yes I forgot that. So yeah is even more complicated. Worth it only if the rewards are removed.
reply
The only way is k00b to put in some feature for that. But I think that might be straight-up illegal, though! Ahahah
reply
define "illegal" LOL
reply
money transmission law! ahahah I already pitched an idea before, which was you could basically ZAP the profile and it wouldn't mess up the stats.
I don't see any issue with the use of CC inside SN. And I agree such trades will affect the stats. But hey, if SN is measuring its posts scores in monetary terms, why should not a big trade be shown in the top posts?
Just for context, the forever/top/post is the one from @anita receiving a big Satsraiser.
I'm of the opinion that categorizing trades under a territory such the ~AGORA could be useful, and those not interested in such posts could simply mute the territory

I said it multiple times: for me CCs are just like "gold coins" in WoW (world of warcraft game) or any other game using some kind of tokens. You need to buy some items or simply be able to use that platform? Fine, buy their CCs and use them only inside.
Perfectly fine system. All this crazyness with external wallets its a friction that is not necessary.
reply
Totally agree, even WoW has a black market auction house. HFPSN

I’m going to pin an ~econ post for my cowboy credit exchange.

Why not here?
reply
Because the territory owner share of zaps is part of how I can offer lower prices.

True, I thought the same. My rate is still better than your current offer.

I'm obviously not understanding the market mechanics here. In a normal order book, you would never get a negative spread (overlapping buy/sell orders) coz the exchange would automatically execute the trades. Is that not happening here? If it did, your order book would be considerably simpler.
reply
Thanks for sharing; it does make sense. Consider there's no automated exchange here for selling or buying CCs, it's all P2P. This is a simple, humble initiative to gather the data and make sure there are fair trades around.
There's probably some errors in how the data is calculated; this is a first iteration. With the help of feedback like yours, we can improve accuracy and KPIs.
How would you display the data to make it more understandable? Any reference helps

You'd have to execute the overlapping trades first, then you can show a less confusing order book.
reply
30 sats \ 6 replies \ @harrym 10h
The price axis would then be monotonically increasing, for example. The spread would be positive...
reply
I will make the changes. Do you have any references I can look at?
reply

I learnt by looking at normal exchanges (mtgox, bitstamp, bitfinex). I don't think I ever used anything I could offer as a reference, but there are many youtube traders. hmm. I did at one time read discussion from when bitfinex was being created - I guess the ideas started becoming clear then. I'm not a trader, but i did try to get it clear in my head back then. I just realized you are new to trading, so the useful key words for you would be 'exchange order book'. I just did one that tells way more than you need: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/o/order-book.asp
I'm happy to help if I can.
Are you planning to make the changes to resolve the trades automatically? If you expect any traffic, manual resolution is out of the question.
reply
That help a lot! Made some changes and should be live soon. I was also able to give the SPREAD a positive value.
I, indeed, am not a trader either and am not familiar with such things. This was an exercise to track the effective value of CCs against Bitcoin (sats), as 1cc = 1sat is just the default value SN is selling CCs.
For now, manual resolution seems the obvious path, as stackers are posting here buy and sell offers. But I see the case for resolving the trades automatically somehow. Have no idea where to start, and any help is more than welcome.

There's a lot of work around efficient trade engines (which I have no interest in). Assuming efficiency is not important tho, I can see a simple scan thru the price range and check/resolve any trades that can be executed. You might need to decide who offered their trade first at any given price i guess. I have no idea what your programming environment is. Would the code run on SN? A Bash script maybe? Is there a database holding the trade offers? Perl used to fantastic at handling text only stuff, but noone likes it any more :(
